<p>We only truly experience the bell when it is struck, in the sound which reverberates within the empty space. The bell is never fully present in the material at hand, yet neither is it possible for it to ring without the physical boundary which the clay delimits. Instead, it exists in the encounter between the one who strikes it and these reverberations of presence and absence.</p>
