Hudson Valley singer/songwriters Eric Squindo and Amy Laber combine their efforts for an afternoon of original folk/country, accompanied by Jon Light (pedal steel) and Andrew Shober (bass).
Eric Squindo:
Influenced by the likes of Townes Van Zandt and John Prine, Squindo’s music has been described as warm and whimsical country/folk. Simple, honest lyrics delivered with a dusty-road tenor voice, his performances are soulful and thought provoking without being artificial or pretentious. A founding member of the Woodstock based band, Mister Roper, Squindo has been performing since 1995 and released his debut solo album in 2003; voted one of the best local releases of the year by the Asbury Park Press. Currently a resident of Kingston, NY, Eric continues to perform solo, with Roper, and with the Uncommon Gestures. He also founded ESP (Eric Squindo Presents) which organizes one of a kind tribute shows featuring local talent.
Amy Laber:
Longtime New Paltz-based troubadour Amy Laber’s music is a potent reminder of the power of simplicity, the depth of country soul and the magic of an open heart. Jon Light:
Jon has been playing pedal steel guitar in the NY tri-state region, home-based in NYC, with country, rock, punk, folk, and singer/songwriter collaborations since the mid 1980’s. He relocated to the Catskills in 2016 and continues to forge musical partnerships.
Andrew Shober:
Veteran Bass player. Moved permanently to Woodstock, NY for his love of “The Band”. As a dream came true, Andrew went on to be bass player for Levon Helm and helped get the infamous Midnight Rambles off the ground. Andrew is also a former member of the popular roots band The Apple Pickers Union and bassist for Mister Roper since 2014.
